Located in Osu, Naka Ward, Nagoya, it is a historic Buddhist temple, also officially know as “Osu Kannon-ji,” which is one of Nagoya’s most iconic temples. It is said that it was founded in 1333 and has a long history.
The main hall enshrines Kannon Bosatsu (the goddess of mercy), and is popular and loved by both locals and tourists. Different flowers also bloom in each season on the grounds, offering a relaxing atmosphere to visitors.
Moreover, Osu Kannon is famous as a sightseeing spot in Nagoya, and there is “Osu Shotengai Shopping Street” right next to the temple, where you can enjoy shopping and food. On the 18th of each month, the temple holds an event called “Osu Kannon’s Ennichi,” attracting a lot of worshippers and visitors.
