Located in the Sakae district of the Naka Ward, Nagoya, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER (Formerly Nagoya TV Tower) is an iconic sightseeing spot in Nagoya. It was originally built as Japan’s first aggregate radio tower in 1954 and was reborn as “Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER” in 2021. Then, it became the first tower in Japan to be registered as a tangible cultural property.
You can enjoy a panoramic view of Nagoya City from the observation deck, and it is beautifully lit up at night. The illuminations use “Aichi Green Denki,” a CO₂-free electricity source from local hydroelectric power. It is a wonderful combination of eco-friendliness and beauty.
There are cafes and shops with original goods on the third floor, so you can enjoy shopping and meals and relax. Also, the outdoor Sky Balcony is known as a romantic spot where couples attach padlocks as a symbol of love. On weekends and holidays, you can experience “Sky Walking,” where you go upstairs using the outdoor stairs from the ground up to the observation deck.
