Shirakawa-go Gassho-Zukuri Minka-en

This is a must-see spot if you visit Shirakawa-go! “Wada House” is one of the largest and historic buildings in the village, which is designated as an important cultural property. The prestigious Wada family, who have lived there since the Edo period, still lives there and maintains the house to this day.

Inside the house, you can see the hearth, household tools that were used back then, and even how sericulture was practiced, allowing you to feel closer to their life. Additionally, you can overlook beautiful seasonal views of the village from the second floor. It is easily accessible on foot from the Shirakawa-go Bus Terminal!

・Visitors can tour the main houses, and some of them are open to the public including the third floor of the loft.
・In the rest area (Nakano Chojiro Family Residence, designated as a prefectural important cultural property), warm tea is served by the hearth. (Cold tea in summer)
・From April to October, workshops (paid service) are available. (Advance reservation required)
